ARORA (formerly Sonos) established themselves as pioneers in the vocal + electronic music scene around 2008. Touring across the country with airtime on KCRW in Los Angeles and a growing fanbase, they were approached by the reality show The Sing Off multiple times before accepting the invitation to compete.

As close friends of the band, especially my two best friends Katherine Hoye and Jessica Freedman, I was excited to attend tapings of their first two episodes. It came as a huge confusing shock when the judges "eliminated" the group after only two performances (later we found out it was about many more reasons than their talent). This was a revelation to me to the insides of the Hollywood system.

Unfortunately, one of their strongest covers, Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" was not able to be performed in their original ARORA style of strong acapella with intricate use of vocal pedals. We decided to shoot and release a music video of their original recording, to align with the airing of the premiere of The Sing Off. This allowed audiences to see their talent authentically, not through the lens of the profit-focused machine of the music and TV industry.

The video now has over 143,000 views on YouTube.

ARORA has produced incredible music since this time, you can listen to their music here.

"Goldmine" is an original song by ARORA. We shot this video impromptu in a Los Angeles parking garage in 2011.
